The St Edward middle school girls started training in January with a goal of winning the 4 x 800 meter relay race at the 2016 Kentucky Middle School State Championship. During the track season St Edward had as many as 8 girls run a 2:45 800m or faster, with 6 of them under 2:40. Not only was winning the race a goal, but breaking the State record became a goal also. Less than 2 seconds separated the 4 girls vying for the final 2 spots on the team. The competition at state was very competitive with many of girls also running for their high school teams. The St Edward girls ran great winning the race and breaking the State Record with a time of 10:19.96 about 2 seconds faster than the previous record. See the complete race video below.
