Brooklyn Campisano 2014 Kentucky
Cross Country State Champion
4th grade & under Girls
St Edward 3rd grader Brooklyn Campisano wins the Ky State Championship in exciting fashon. Brooklyn came from behind in the last 100 meters to catch 4th grader & 2013 Nation Champion Logan Ortega in a photo finish. Over 500 runners from more than 100 schools participated in the 4th & under girls races. Going into the meet Brooklyn was projected in the top 10 maybe top 5, but to win it against one of the top girls in the Nation took a lot of heart & guts.
Note: Brooklyn went on to win the 2014 8 & under National Championship at the Cross Country Coaches Youth National Championship in Nashville Tn.
This was Brooklyn's 2nd year running. I knew we had a special talent last year when she was a 2nd grader. This year she took it up to a new level especially when she cranked up her training regiment the last half of the season. She has what it takes to be a great runner, talent, smart, competitive and good attitude.
